Stories Of People Of Agra ; Syed Faiz Ali Shah

Syed Faiz Ali Shah, the 40th descendant of Hazrat Muhammad ( PBHM) .  He has substantially followed the legacy of his ancestors in carrying forward the essence of sufism. Sufism is as old as several other diverse cultures prevalent in the City Of Taj - Agra. It is an ancient culture that is still followed by religious people with devotion. He told us the articulate insight of sufism, the core of which is Tasawwuf - "raah jo apne sudhar aur adhyatm ki taraf le jaye" meaning "a path that leads to our betterment". He then narrated about the durgah of Hazrat Amjad Ali Shah Azhar Akbarabadi and Maikash Akbarabadi (1902-1993). This durgah is popularly known as: Dargah Panja Madrsa .  Syed Muhammad Ali Shah 'Maikash' Qadri Niazi was a scholar of Arabic, Pershian and Urdu. He was a mystic scion of a well-known Sufi house and a distinguised poet.  Some of his ethereal pieces are mentioned-below: *Aa Aashiqon men beth fana aashiqon se seekh.* *yeh husn khu...

Stories Of People Of Agra ; Om Prakash

What is so unique in Om Prakash Ji that we are sharing his story? The stories of his childhood were related to the City of Love and the 7th wonder of the world, the Taj Mahal situated there. We can say that he is a man with high self-esteem and sincerity as he told us about his job. He said that I am a watchman, and this is not a small job for me. I have always been self-reliant, and so after retiring, I did not need anyone's support or pity and decided to do this job. I am working in rawatpara for two years. Before that, I used to work as a watchman in Shyam Ji's temple. For the first time in my life, I was proud of my job that someone wanted to know about my struggles and story? Otherwise, most people turn their backs to his face the moment they see him. Maybe never before today was he this exhilarated while narrating the story of his life. If you ask me about the Taj Mahal. In complete truth I want to tell you that when I used to go to see the Taj Mah...

Yes! my father and I both had a hobby of collecting old sewing machines since childhood. He started collecting when he was a mechanic of sewing machines in Madras. After seeing his collection, I also grew fond of collecting old things. During my childhood, I was fascinated by seeing artefact  like gramophones and sewing machines. It used to be a moment of pride for me when my childhood friends visited my house to see old sewing machines. I still remember them saying, "Chalo aj Kuldeep aj purani silai machine dikhayega wo bhi 100 saal purani". Whenever I used to tell them about my collection, they used to get so delighted that their smiles brought joy to my heart. I also have an antique gramophone. Initially, it was in poor condition, but since I am a sewing machine mechanic, I tried to...
